Iron Galaxy lays off 66 employees as a ‘last resort’ to avoid closure

Among the unfortunate industry patterns that have extended from last year into 2025 is the increased number of job cuts, such as the recent round affecting Iron Galaxy. This well-known studio, recognized for both high-profile game adaptations and original titles, has announced it will be letting go of 66 employees in a desperate attempt to preserve the company’s existence.

Iron Galaxy Studios recently announced on their website that they are letting go of some staff members. In their statement, they mention the trend of layoffs and studio closures in the gaming industry over the past few years. Despite making various sacrifices at Iron Galaxy to keep their team together, they have now reached a point where they can’t make any more adjustments during this difficult period.

Today, we’re saying goodbye to several members of our development and support teams from Iron Galaxy. In total, this decision affects 66 employees. This drastic step was necessary to ensure our ongoing viability as a company in the long run. It’s not a choice we make lightly.

Iron Galaxy Studios has been responsible for adapting games such as The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered, Overwatch, and Metroid Prime: Remastered to different systems. However, their most recent self-produced project, Rumbelverse, was unfortunately closed down before its completion in the year 2023.
