InZoi director admits the new game is “nowhere near comparable” to Sims 4… yet

For several decades, The Sims has dominated its genre, but now it appears to have a genuine competitor in the shape of InZoi. Making its debut in early access and offering Steam Deck compatibility from the start, could this new life simulator be the one to dethrone EA’s cherished series?

As explained by the game director, the upcoming game still lacks the polish and depth found in The Sims at this stage. With the new series just starting out, the director emphasizes that it’s currently not on par with The Sims, which is a well-established giant in the gaming world from Maxis.

InZoi director on The Sims comparison

Speaking to PCGamesN, the InZoi game director expressed a great appreciation for The Sims.

The director expressed that “The Sims” is a remarkable game, and as of now, he doesn’t believe that InZoi comes close in comparison.

In its initial strides, this newcomer is poised to challenge The Sims’ dominance, potentially making EA’s series more competitive. But for now, they are distinct entities, and Maxis’ game remains the undisputed leader, earning its title as the reigning champion.

Kjun remarked, “Our journey is just beginning, following in The Sims’ footsteps. Each time I play The Sims, I discover something novel and frequently identify with the choices made by its creators. It’s much like how every individual lives a distinct life; The Sims and InZOI each hold their unique significance and worth.

The game’s director shared that since The Sims has such a strong presence, it puts “considerable stress” on the development team when they launch their new game. Despite being in the same genre and targeting similar audiences, the director is eager for both games to thrive.

The director expressed his sincere backing for The Sims as a player and spoke enthusiastically about what’s coming up for us in the future.

On Friday, March 28, 2025, InZOI is scheduled to debut in an early-access format. From the onset, players will be granted complimentary access to every available DLC throughout the extended early access phase, initially priced at $39.99.
