InZoi devs “respect the freedom of modders”, no matter what they get up to

Even though it’s not as widely known as The Sims, Krafton’s inZOI was quickly followed by several fantastic mods that broaden the game’s scope. Though the official mod tools are yet to be launched (but will be soon according to a planned update), players have already been creatively customizing the game with their unique additions.

Despite the fact that most gamers are eagerly anticipating the arrival of WhickedWhims or a similar mod for enriching adult interactions in the life simulator, the creators at inZOI have made it clear that they don’t wish to dictate player behavior within their game. Instead, they encourage and support the creative spirit of the community, whatever the nature of their projects may be. (VideoGamer interview with Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim)

InZOI devs respect modders

To VideoGamer, Kim articulated that the team holds “high regard” for mod creators. In a game like inZOI, part of the developer’s role is to establish a foundation for modders to expand upon. Essentially, whatever a modder creates will always reflect their unique perspective on it.

Kim emphasized to VideoGamer that we value the liberty of game modders. I firmly believe that creativity is a cornerstone of this type of game, and a significant aspect of enjoying life simulation games comes from players building upon developer-created content using their own imagination. Personally, I also find joy in doing this in other games too.

Kim shared that the team eagerly anticipates observing the creations of modders once they have access to the mod-kit for inZOI. Furthermore, the team plans to continue providing support for modders even after the release of the official kit.

Right now, Kim is helping set up an authorized modding platform for inZOI, and he’s excited about it too. For us, modding represents another chance to express creativity and enhance the genre. That’s why we’re dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where modders can customize inZOI as much as they want, while having fun in the process.
