Instead of rushing out its first significant update, InZoi, a competitor to Krafton’s The Sims, is postponing it to enhance the emotional depth of the game. The initial major update and the scheduled launch of mod tools in their roadmap have been pushed back. The team is prioritizing quality over a quick release, aiming to create an immersive and engaging experience for players.
According to a post by game director Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim on the Steam page, the development team requires a bit more time to produce the initial significant update that matches the quality fans expect. Consequently, fans will now have to hold off until mid-June to obtain the new update.
InZoi update and mod tools delayed
In the upcoming June update, Kim clarified that the team is focusing on enhancing the way Zoi portrays feelings and exhibits character traits. However, as of now, they’ve discovered that the improvements intended for Zoi’s emotional expressions within the game aren’t functioning properly.
In the process of enhancing emotional stability for Zois during our April update, we stumbled upon some unforeseen consequences. At present, certain Zois models may become unresponsive to emotions, either by not displaying facial expressions or acting in a peculiar manner. We’re working hard to resolve this issue in June. Furthermore, users have mentioned that the behavior of Zois can seem generic at times. In order to make them more unique and expressive, we are planning to introduce emotion-driven dialogues and responses, ensuring that actions may differ based on the emotional state of the Zoi model.
The planned update, which was scheduled for the end of May featuring a modding system, has been pushed back to mid-June as Kim mentioned on the game’s Steam page. He expressed that there were still aspects requiring refinement and opted to prioritize quality over swiftness. Despite the adjustment in schedule, they are striving to provide content that will be genuinely satisfying.
In addition to the late update, the team also shared information about improvements coming to the Game’s ModCreator tool, enabling players to develop more complex modifications.
The ModKit serves as a handy resource for building mods, simplifying the process and increasing flexibility in sharing your creations. According to its creator, this tool is meant to streamline the creation of mod content and facilitate more convenient sharing options. Interestingly, the inZOI already has CurseForge integration, but we’ve extended this feature to enable creators to share their mods through two different avenues.
Users can post a mod on CurseForge and subsequently install it either via the built-in Mod Browser within the game or by saving the mod locally and placing it in the designated mods folder within their game’s installation directory. Upon the arrival of the ModKit, players will have the freedom to fully customize the game according to their preferences.
