What happens to Conquest in Invincible Season 3, Episode 8?

In the final episode of Invincible Season 3, Conquest receives a harsh thrashing at the hands of Invincible, following which he is jailed by Cecil Stedman.

Following their fierce fight that appeared to result in Invincible killing Conquest, Mark requests to examine his body. Cecil obliges, showing him Conquest enclosed in a body bag. Mark subsequently orders Cecil to cremate the body, and it seems as though Cecil consents.

Yet, always cautious and tactical, Cecil conceals Conquest’s body within a massive 400-ton steel alloy casket, hidden deep beneath 600 miles of desert. The head of the Global Defense Agency has this casket buried with the intention that Conquest will revive and recover, so valuable information about the Viltrum Empire can be extracted to help in his plans to counteract them.

During Mark’s struggle with Conquest, his ethical standards shift towards a more ominous path. When he visits his half-brother Oliver, who narrowly escaped death from their fight, Mark concedes that Oliver was correct in employing deadly force against their adversaries. He then swears that if anyone endangers his family again, he will act without hesitation and take their lives.

In the aftermath of their encounter with Conquest, Atom Eve’s unique abilities managed to heal her body and break through the self-imposed limitations on her powers’ potential, which had been severely compromised by the battle. She recalls a previous instance where this happened, but hadn’t shared it with Mark until now because she felt it wasn’t the right moment to do so.

It’ll be intriguing to observe the effects on Mark’s interactions with his adversaries in the future, as well as how his friendships and bonds with his loved ones may evolve due to his shifting moral principles.
