As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of immersion in various digital worlds, I must admit that the latest episode of Industry Season 3 has left me both enthralled and dismayed. The intricate plot twists, the character development, and the raw portrayal of human frailty have all been masterfully executed.
Industry Season 3 Episode 4 has aired on HBO and is now available on HBO Max, and the viewers want to know how it ends and who made the Reddit comments that alluded to Rishi’s toxic behavior at the sales floor of Pierpoint. Titled “White Mischief,” the episode focuses on Rishi Ramdani (Sagar Radia), the foul-mouthed market maker introduced in season 2, as he has an extraordinary day even by Pierpoint’s standards. Here is the spoilers-filled ending explainer of Industry Season 3 Episode 4.
What happens to Rishi Ramdani at the end of Industry Season 3 Episode 4?
Following the chaotic ESG conference in the last episode, Lumi is now under administration, leaving Pierpoint in disarray. With the company’s recent venture clearly being a failure, Eric and the team are now concentrating on the government’s emergency budget this week. Interestingly, Rishi suggests that they should invest their efforts into his plan where he wagered that the pound-sterling would rise against the U.S. dollars. At this critical juncture for Pierpoint, Eric and the rest understand that Rishi’s strategy might just be the solution they need to secure a victory.
Everything lines up with Rishi and Diana relocating to their rural abode, a move that brings Rishi up against prejudice due to his skin color, as well as the resistance of his new neighbors to change. Throughout this episode, it’s disclosed that Rishi struggles with addictions to pornography, gambling, and cocaine, which has resulted in a £200,000 debt owed to Vinay, an old friend turned loan shark. In one scene, Rishi’s nose bleeding occurs after he receives a declined payment notification on a sex video. It’s also made clear that Rishi has been untrue to Diana; during Season 2’s wedding day, he had an intimate moment with Harper, and this episode reveals that he slept with Sweetpea as well.
In contrast to Anraj, who isn’t typically drawn to gambling despite working at an investment bank, Rishi is known for his gambling habits, particularly evident in his handling of a 625-million-pound position on the budget, with nearly half being allocated on his own book. Initially, Rishi encounters misfortune when the pound-sterling experiences a significant drop following the budget announcement. Seeking relief, he resorts to gambling with the funds provided by his colleagues and ends up winning substantially. However, his luck soon turns sour when he is attacked at a nightclub and subsequently loses the winnings in another round of gambling.
In the end, a series of unexpected events unfold for Rishi. The government reverses its decision, leading to Pierpoint earning a substantial income due to Rishi’s influential role. Rishi and Diana choose to work on their relationship after Diana confesses her infidelity. Moreover, Rishi decides to shut down the cricket-themed bar that his neighbors had asked him to maintain. He manages to reclaim his dog as well. On top of that, Rishi repays Vinay, adding an extra £50 thousand as a generous gesture.
Following the reversal of events, Anraj notes that Rishi isn’t a skilled trader – he merely benefits from luck. Rishi agrees with this assessment and, in the final scene of the episode, he poetically refers to fate as his cherished partner, using vivid imagery.
Who made the Reddit comments?
In the final scene of Industry Season 3 Episode 4, Venetia Berens hinted at being one of the unidentified Reddit contributors.
Prior to the release of the emergency budget, HR reached out to Rishi following their discovery of a secret online forum called Overheard at Pierpoint. In this forum, individuals had made comments about abrasive remarks they believed were made by Rishi. They also shared that there were informal, vague complaints regarding Rishi’s language being outdated. Towards the end of the story, Rishi meets Venetia Berens (Indy Lewis) in an elevator. Venetia announces her resignation and reveals that she was one of the anonymous forum users and one of those who had complained to HR about Rishi.
