Summary

  • Indiana Pacers star point guard Tyrese Haliburton will miss the entire 2025-26 NBA season due to a torn right Achilles tendon
  • The injury occurred during Game 7 of the recent NBA Finals, which the Pacers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder

The Indiana Pacers have sadly revealed that their star point guard, Tyrese Haliburton, won’t play during the 2025-26 NBA season due to a torn Achilles tendon in his right leg. Kevin Pritchard, President of Basketball Operations for the Pacers, has made it clear that fans should not expect Haliburton to rejoin the team next year, as he focuses on his recovery.

In Game 7 of the NBA Finals, Haliburton sustained a severe injury to his Achilles tendon in the first quarter, resulting in the Pacers losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder. An MRI confirmed the injury, and immediately after, he underwent surgery at the age of 25. Although the operation went well, the team is focusing on his long-term health and full recovery, adopting a careful strategy.

Pritchard made it clear that the player won’t be playing next season, stressing they wouldn’t risk jeopardizing this commitment. Haliburton, from his hospital bed, expressed heartfelt apologies to fans on X (formerly Twitter) and vowed to “battle fiercely” to return to the same spot. With both him and Myles Turner leaving, the Pacers are set to encounter significant hurdles in the upcoming season as they embark on a rebuilding phase without two crucial starters.
