Summary
- Pixar has officially tapped Peter Sohn, Elemental director to helm Incredibles 3
- Franchise creator Brad Bird will return to write and produce
- No official release date or specific plot details have been revealed yet
The third part of the popular movie series “The Incredibles” is progressing smoothly, with Pixar’s eagerly awaited “Incredibles 3” now advancing under a new director, Peter Sohn, who has previously worked on films like “Elemental” and “The Good Dinosaur”. The original film was released in the year 2004, while its sequel followed in 2018.
Brad Bird, who wrote and helmed the initial two Incredibles movies, will pen the script and produce the third one, but he won’t be in the director’s chair this time around. This choice seems to have been made by Bird himself along with Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer, Pete Docter, due to Bird’s dedication to other projects like his project Ray Gunn at Skydance Animation.
As a protege of Bird, Sonn has had a long relationship with Pixar. He worked as an animator on the original “Incredibles” movie and served as a story consultant for “Incredibles 2”. His latest achievement with “Elemental”, which earned an Academy Award nomination and performed well financially, has cemented his position. Given his past work in portraying family relationships and creating complex worlds, it’s promising for the next Parr family adventure.
As of now, Pixar hasn’t revealed a release date for any upcoming movie. However, they are preparing to debut “Elio” towards the end of this month.
