As a long-time horror gaming enthusiast and film critic, I’ve seen my fair share of slasher movies, but none quite like “In a Violent Nature.” The original film, released back in 2024, left a lasting impression on me with its unique perspective on the killer, Johnny. I was immediately intrigued by the premise and the slow-moving yet suspenseful build-up to the gory kills.
Today, IFC Films unveiled a new poster for the upcoming sequel to the independent horror film “In a Violent Nature,” which they’re calling “In a Violent Nature 2.”
I was absolutely captivated by that early slasher movie, where we delved into the mind of the killer, Johnny, instead of just watching his victims. The film moved at a deliberate pace, earning it comparisons to art house productions, and the inventive, gorier-than-ever kills left me in awe. At the box office, it raked in an impressive $4.4 million during its run.
As a long-time horror movie enthusiast, I can tell you that I’m thrilled to hear that Chris Nash will be penning the script for “In a Violent Nature 2.” While details about the director and release date are still under wraps, I’ve learned to be patient in the world of horror film production.

What was In a Violent Nature about?
In the forest, a decaying body protected by a locket in an old fire tower is unearthed, awakening Johnny’s vengeful spirit. This spirit, fueled by a 60-year-old heinous crime, brings Johnny back to life as an undead being. Driven to retrieve the locket, this golem targets a group of unwitting vacationers who had taken it. One by one, they are brutally eliminated in the undead’s relentless pursuit, leaving no one safe from his wrath.
As a gamer, I’d put it this way: In 2024, I had the chance to immerse myself in Chris Nash’s masterpiece, “In a Violent Nature.” I joined Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan, Lea Rose Sebastianis, Sam Roulston, Alexander Oliver, and Lauren Taylor on their thrilling journey. The production was skillfully brought to life by Peter Kuplowsky and Shannon Hanmer.
The film “In a Violent Nature” lasts for 94 minutes and will be available to stream on Shudder starting September 13, 2024.
