It might seem unthinkable, yet it turns out to be true: After all these years, Spaceballs isn’t just a joke – it’s getting a sequel in 2027! You can expect some familiar visages.
The Search For More Money?
It was believed to be impossible, yet here we are with the news confirmed: Spaceballs 2 is officially on its way! This much-anticipated movie will make its debut in cinemas to mark its 40th anniversary. If you’re not familiar with this classic, now would be a great time to check it out!
Spaceballs is essentially a hilarious spoof of Star Wars, packed with jokes targeting sci-fi films. The villainous Spaceballs (Spaceballers) are running out of air and plot to seize oxygen from another planet by abducting their princess, Vespa, the daughter of the ruling king. However, the heroic Lone Starr, accompanied by his furry companion Barf (a half-human, half-canine character), embark on a mission to save her.
On their journey, they encounter the wise Yogurt, who enlightens them about “the force”, or more accurately, “the Schwartz”. As they navigate through numerous scenarios brimming with references, there’s no shortage of laughter. Ultimately, they manage to save the planet, rescue the princess, and deliver an abundance of jokes – all while ensuring a joyful conclusion.
In the movie itself, a sequel was hinted at by breaking the fourth wall. Can you believe that 40 years later, this very sequel is now becoming a reality?
Legendary Cast For A Legendary Movie
Who made the movie? It’s Mel Brooks, yes, that famous Mel Brooks. He’s about to celebrate his 99th birthday in just two days, on the 28th of June.
We also already know about the cast, which should make fans particularly happy.
As a gaming enthusiast excitedly diving into the latest update, I’m thrilled to announce that iconic characters like Lone Starr (portrayed by none other than Bill Pullman), Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis), and Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) are returning! But get ready for a twist – our beloved Olaf from Frozen, Josh Gad, is stepping into the lead role!
But wait, there’s more! Lewis Pullman, son of Bill Pullman, has joined the crew, and the talented Keke Palmer is also set to make an appearance in this exciting new chapter. Can’t wait to see how these stellar actors bring their characters to life!
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled about the upcoming movie dubbed as “The Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film“. It’s particularly exciting because Rick Moranis, who took a break from acting in the 1990s to focus on his family following the loss of his wife, is set to make a grand return. And guess what? This comeback will be none other than reprising his iconic role in “Spaceballs 2“. Can’t wait for this blast from the past!
When Can We See This Gem?
Although no specific date or full-length trailer has been revealed yet, there’s a sneak peek teaser available featuring snippets of movies that have been previously released since the original. The humorous clip takes jabs at Star Wars, but films like Dune and Avatar are also subjected to playful mockery. Josh Gad posted this video on his channel.
As a kid, I watched “Spaceballs” before “Star Wars,” leading me to ponder why someone would attempt a dramatic reboot of Mel Brooks’ masterpiece. Now, it’s an unparalleled privilege for me to collaborate with Mel and this amazing team on the…

It seems that Mel Brooks has a definite stance: “We polled fans after forty years and found out their desires… However, instead, we’ve chosen to produce this film!” Needless to say, we’re thrilled!
