Immense Elden Ring Success Makes Its DLC, Nightreign Top Sellers Too

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but marvel at the incredible impact Elden Ring has had on FromSoftware’s reputation within the gaming industry. With over 30 million copies sold, it’s clear that this game has catapulted them to new heights of fame. What makes it even more impressive is the transformation of their well-known but essentially linear Dark Souls formula into an expansive open world. The level of success and exceptional quality achieved by Elden Ring has undeniably influenced FromSoftware’s subsequent projects, with reports of continued sales triumphs flooding in.

In the past year alone, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion surpassed sales of 10 million copies, while Elden Ring Nightreign reached an impressive 5 million unit sales.

In the realm of Twitter, the Elden Ring account expressed their gratitude to me and fellow enthusiasts in a heartfelt manner: “Your unwavering enthusiasm illuminates even the darkest corners of the Lands Between. To all the explorers traversing this mystical world, we extend our sincerest appreciation.

The positive aspect for FromSoftware is that if Elden Ring, at least its initial version, performs well, sales could increase even more with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 release of the game this year. This special edition, dubbed Tarnished Edition, will include fresh armor, weapons, and customization features. Interestingly, these additional items will also be available for the PS5 and PS4 versions.

Moving forward for the Japanese developer, we have The Duskbloods, a game only available on the Nintendo Switch 2. Additionally, whispers suggest that there might be an unannounced project launching by the closing of 2026.
