If you bought a guitar recently it might just be Kirk Hammett’s

Kirk Hammett, the member of Metallica, carries a sense of remorse due to his extensive collection of guitars. Being a skilled musician, these instruments are essential to his craft. It’s likely that many guitarists in iconic bands own more guitars than they could ever master in their lifetime.

One aspect of the problem at hand is that Hammett stores guitars he no longer uses, as the sounds they produce are incongruous with what Metallica is presently working on or hasn’t explored in 15 years, which seems unlikely to be revisited in the future.

As reported by Guitar World, Hammett has been selling many of his guitars online through Reverb or eBay instead of keeping them idle. This is done anonymously to prevent the prices from escalating or the instruments being resold due to their association with him. He wants these musical instruments to find a suitable home and be played by someone enthusiastic about music.

You might have a guitar previously owned by Kirk Hammett in your collection

Hammett expresses that he feels uneasy when the instrument remains unused. After all, guitars are designed for producing sound, not for being left idle and gathering dust.

As a gamer, I wouldn’t boast about the guitars I’ve sold, just like Hammett does. He keeps his identity low-key when dealing these musical instruments, much like he doesn’t flaunt himself as their seller. The value of a guitar isn’t solely determined by its previous owner; it stands on its own worth, not because it once belonged to me.

He subtly suggested that the instruments he handled during Metallica’s 2008 album ‘Death Magnetic’, including a 1958 Les Paul, ESP Mummy, Caution, and a 1959 Telecaster, might be the ones you bought online. However, it remains uncertain if that’s actually the case.

As a fellow gamer, I’m always open to swapping gear, especially when I come across something that catches my eye. It’s logical, really – if I pass on my axe to another player, they’ll make it sing; and in return, I get a new guitar to bring out its own unique tones.

Previously, Hammett has traded guitars with musicians like Jack White. This particular swap involved Hammett sending the founder of the White Stripes, Jack White, a vintage Gibson Les Paul named Greeny, and in return, he received a traditional Fender Stratocaster.

The following occasion could find you, as you’re enjoying a video or seeing your preferred band perform live, pondering about the source of the guitarist’s guitar. There may even be a fleeting thought that someday, without realizing it, you might become its owner.
