Apart from this film, she has acted in numerous movies such as Connie and Carla, My Life in Ruins, I Hate Valentine’s Day, and a sequel to My Big Fat Greek Wedding titled My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.
Gomez carries a mixed heritage from Puerto Rico and Russian-Jewish roots. Following his marriage to Vardalos, he embraced the Greek Orthodox faith as depicted in My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
In 2008, they brought their daughter home via adoption. On July 3, 2018, Vardalos filed for divorce from Gomez after 25 years of marriage, stating irreconcilable differences as the reason. The divorce was finalized in September of that year.
