'I was furious and insulted': Chiranjeevi opens up about the time when people considered Bollywood as Indian cinema

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for cinema and its impact on our culture, I find myself utterly captivated by the journey of Megastar Chiranjeevi. His illustrious career, spanning over four decades, has been marked by resilience, passion, and an unwavering commitment to elevating South Indian cinema to international acclaim.

As a devoted admirer, I’m sharing my take on the recent heartfelt chat between Megastar Chiranjeevi and Rajeev Masand for Aha’s unique Fireside Chat at their South Indian Film Festival. In this intimate conversation, the Bhola Shankar actor opened up about a past experience that left him feeling disrespected by the portrayal of South cinema within the broader Indian film industry.

He mentioned that it was a gathering where they served afternoon tea, and he noticed images of renowned actors such as Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, along with others. In contrast, from the Southern film industry, he could locate pictures only of Kannada actor Rajkumar and Tamil star MGR.

As a devoted admirer, I couldn’t help but feel disheartened upon realizing that the photographs of our revered figures, NT Rama Rao garu, Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu, and the esteemed Sivaji Ganesan sir, were absent.

During the interview, the Indra actor commented, “I was both angry and offended. To be honest, I took on roles in movies such as Pratibha and Today’s Anarchy precisely to demonstrate the talent and promise of Southern cinema.

In conversation about the growth of the Telugu film industry, Chiranjeevi commended SS Rajamouli for elevating them on a global scale. “The Telugu film industry has soared to great heights, and I credit this success to SS Rajamouli. He has propelled Telugu cinema onto the international stage. In essence, he has united all films under the umbrella of Indian cinema,” the actor stated.

Additionally, Chiranjeevi acknowledged Prashanth Neel, Rishab Shetty, Sukumar, Atlee, and many more individuals for their contributions to the thriving success of Southern film industry.

Regarding his professional endeavors, Chiranjeevi is eagerly anticipating the debut of “Vishwambhara” on January 10, 2025. Actresses Trisha Krishnan, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and others will be playing significant roles in this film alongside him. In related news, MM Keeravani, a renowned Oscar-winning composer, has joined the “Vishwambhara” team as the music composer for the movie.

As a die-hard admirer, I can hardly contain my excitement as it seems Chiranjeevi’s upcoming movie is set to share the silver screen with heavyweights Ajith Kumar and Ravi Teja during the festive season of Pongal! The anticipation is building, and I simply cannot wait to witness this epic clash of talent!
