Siddharth is well-known for being straightforward in his speech and not manipulating words when interacting with others. At the Hyderabad Literary Festival, he had a conversation with Vidya Rao, Aditi Rao Hydari’s mother, about why he didn’t achieve stardom. He revealed that he turned down roles promoting harmful masculinity, which might have resulted in some scripts being passed over.
Siddharth candidly acknowledged that refusing particular acting opportunities prevented him from becoming a prominent figure in commercial films. He disclosed receiving scripts where his character would’ve needed to strike women or make derogatory remarks towards them, but he opted not to take those roles. The actor admitted that accepting such parts could have boosted his fame as a movie star.
He shared that in the past, he often received scripts involving scenes of slapping women, performing item numbers, touching someone’s navel, and giving orders to women about where they should go. However, he turned down such roles immediately. He added that, perhaps, he might have achieved even greater stardom if his personality had been different.
Instead, Siddharth clarified that he trusted his gut feelings and discarded anything conflicting with his morals. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of others grasping his motivations. The performer then disclosed that it was gratifying for him to be recognized as respectful towards women and considerate towards children. Lastly, he expressed satisfaction that kids could still appreciate his movies from 15 years back.
Today, I’ve been told that I treated women with respect, I was kind to my parents, I got along well with children, and I had a charming appearance. People mention that children can still enjoy my movies from fifteen years ago, shared Siddharth.
In the course of our chat, the actor revealed that his professional path seemed more like a private struggle for him. He also pointed out that the entertainment world tends to favor tough, aggressive characters, but he prefers expressing vulnerability instead.
In the days ahead, Siddharth’s most recent appearance was in a film called “Miss You.” This movie garnered varied reviews and had a decent run at the cinema. However, it’s worth noting that he will soon be starring alongside Kamal Haasan in the highly-anticipated Indian 3.
