As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the talented Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (of Do Revenge fame) has treated us fans with a sneak peek behind the scenes of the eagerly awaited revamp of I Know What You Did Last Summer! Her post hints at the return of Jennifer Love Hewitt, reprising her iconic role as Julie James, the final girl we all remember and love.
Last December, Hewitt announced on Instagram that she would be part of the forthcoming reboot, hinting at her character’s comeback by saying they were “returning.” Earlier speculation about her joining the franchise arose when she expressed interest in reprising her role.
The movie “I Know What You Did Last Summer” is planned for release in theaters on July 18, 2025. This new version of the film will be directed by Robinson, who collaborated with Sam Lansky, Jeff Howard, and Leah McKendrick to write the screenplay.

Who else stars in I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot?
Apart from Julie James being played by Hewitt once more, Freddie Prinze Jr. will reprise his role as Ray Bronson in the upcoming slasher remake. Newcomers to the I Know What You Did Last Summer series, including Jonah Hauer-King, Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Lola Tung, Austin Nichols, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, and musician/model Gabbriette, will also join the cast.
Previously, during an interview with ComingSoon, Hewiit discussed her “thrilling comeback” to a character she portrayed many years back.
The actress expressed her enthusiasm for revisiting Julie James, but admitted to feeling apprehensive as well. On a personal level, she wonders what others might think of her 45-year-old portrayal of the character, and being both female and human adds to her unease about this aspect.
She added, “It would be a privilege to play her once more. I’m eager to reveal or witness her recent developments and changes, as well as the elements from that memorable night on the highway that she might still carry with her.
The I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot hits theaters on July 18.
