As a die-hard fan of the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise, I am beyond excited about the upcoming sequel! The fact that Freddie Prinze Jr. is returning as Ray Bronson is already a huge win for me, and the addition of Billy Campbell to the cast only makes it better!
The new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie has a big casting update.
Back in January, they made public that a fresh I Know What You Did Last Summer movie is set for release in July 2025. This film marks the fourth installment in the horror series and it’s been confirmed that Freddie Prinze Jr. will once again play Ray Bronson in this upcoming continuation of the story.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, wife of Prinze Jr., previously played the role of Helen Shivers in the series. Although speculation arose about her potential return for the upcoming film, Gellar clarified to PEOPLE that her character remains “deceased.
She did, however, note that she has an unofficial, unseen role in the new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie.
My friend Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is in charge of the project, and we like to say I’ve got an informal role. Essentially, I serve as a continuity check for her. So, whenever there’s something that doesn’t quite fit with the characters, I point it out. In reality, I don’t have an official job title, but I do play a significant part in ensuring consistency.
Gellar commented, “Jen has assembled a fantastic team, and I’m thrilled and eager for each one of them. I’ll be there offering my support from behind the camera.
The new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie adds Billy Campbell to the cast
I’m thrilled to be part of the crowd, as alongside Prinze Jr., the stellar cast of Robinson’s movie features Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Haur-King. What a lineup!
By the given deadline, Billy Campbell has officially become a part of our cast as well. He is renowned for his roles as Cliff Secord in The Rocketeer (1991) and Jordan Collier in The 4400. His extensive film career spans titles such as Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), Gettysburg (1993), Ghost Town (2008), among others.
The article by Deadline further reveals that there are discussions underway regarding Jennifer Love Hewitt potentially reprising her role for the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer film, slated to hit U.S. cinemas on July 18, 2025.
