Hewes Pictures unveiled the planned release date for their upcoming slasher movie, titled “I Heart Willie“. This new project, which is inspired by Disney’s classic short film “Steamboat Willie”, is helmed by director Alejandro G. Alegre in the horror genre.
Two well-known YouTubers, Daniel and Nico, receive an invitation to explore a supposedly haunted location due to whispers of a malevolent presence. The tale revolves around a boy born with unusual features, reminiscent of a human-mouse hybrid, whose likeness is said to have inspired Walt Disney’s Steamboat Willie character. Maltreated and shunned, this boy, now infamously known as Willie, creates a suit from the hides of intruders. As time passes, his horrifying tale transforms into folklore – until a string of disappearances reignites curiosity. As Daniel and Nico prepare for an exciting night, they unwittingly enter a lethal game of survival.
When is the I Heart Willie release date?
On February 26, 2025, the movie titled “I Heart Willie” will make its exclusive premiere in North American theaters for one special night only. This film is helmed by director Alegre, with a screenplay penned by David Vaughn, who also stars as the main character, the notorious killer named Willie. Alongside Vaughn, you’ll see Maya Luna, Micho Camacho, Sergio Rogalto, and Daniela Porras in key roles.
The movie is made by Vaughn and Princeton Holt together with Liz Sanchez and Arturo Renteria. This chilling reinterpretation was shot on-site in Michoacán, Mexico. Prior to its U.S. debut, it first showcased at the Morbido Film Fest in Mexico City. It comes from Hewes Pictures, while Rubey Entertainment takes care of its distribution.
