As a dedicated horror fan with years of experience under my belt, I’m thrilled to hear that Mike Flanagan‘s chilling masterpiece “Hush” is finally getting a digital release! I’ve been eagerly waiting for this moment ever since I first watched it on Netflix back in 2016. The film left me on the edge of my seat with its unique premise and exceptional storytelling, and I couldn’t wait to add it to my collection.

Partnership between Mike Flanagan and Shout! Studios leads to the digital debut of horror thriller “Hush” by Flanagan for the very first time.

Starting next month, the 2016 film that was exclusively streamed on Netflix until now can be bought or rented digitally for the first time.

Hush digital release date

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be able to add “The Hush” to my digital collection starting August 27, 2024! In the comfort of my home, I can buy or rent this movie on various platforms like Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, YouTube, Fandango At Home, and Microsoft. Unfortunately, this perk is only available for viewers in the US and Canada at the moment.

As a huge fan, I’d describe Hush this way: In the heart of the forest, I find myself, a deaf writer named Kate Siegel, seeking tranquility and solitude. My days are filled with the soothing sounds of nature until an ominous silence is broken by a chilling sight – a masked figure at my window. With no means to scream or call for help, I’m plunged into a terrifying battle for survival, relying solely on my wits and intuition.

Flanagan expressed his deep affection for the project “Hush” in a recent interview, sharing that he’s thrilled the film will now be available for digital rental or purchase through Shout! Studios. He appreciated the company’s dedication to preserving their titles and looked forward to future releases, promising Hush fans much to look forward to.

As a longtime fan of Mike Flanagan’s work, I’m thrilled to hear that there will be a physical release of his Netflix projects, including “The Haunting of Hill House.” Having collected numerous DVDs and Blu-rays of my favorite films and series throughout the years, I can relate to Flanagan’s desire for this format. There’s just something special about having a tangible piece of media that you can hold in your hands and add to your personal collection. Plus, physical releases often come with additional features like commentaries, behind-the-scenes content, and collectible packaging – making the viewing experience even more enjoyable. So, I wholeheartedly support Flanagan’s pursuit of a physical release for his Netflix projects.

Mike Flanagan penned and helmed the production of “Hush.” Co-star and co-writer Kate Siegel (“The Haunting of Hill House”) collaborated with him on the film’s script. Trevor Macy and Jason Blum served as its producers, while John Gallagher Jr. (“The Newsroom,” “10 Cloverfield Lane”), Samantha Sloyan (“Midnight Mass,” “Grey’s Anatomy”), and Michael Trucco (“Battlestar Galactica,” “The Fall of the House of Usher”) joined Siegel in the cast.

Mike Flanagan is currently working on the post-production stage of “The Life of Chuck,” an adaptation of Stephen King’s work. Additionally, he has been announced as the director for the upcoming installment in the “Exorcist” film series, which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2026.
