Humane AI Pin to stop services in February, company bought by HP

Starting from the end of February, support for the once criticized AI named Pin will no longer be available. The company that developed this wearable technology, Humane, has recently been acquired by HP and as a result, they’ve decided to cease production of their AI device. Consequently, all services associated with the device will be halted within approximately a week.

On February 18, 2025, Humane shared a message with its clients about their AI Pins. This announcement informed customers that the AI Pin service would be terminated and operations would end at noon on February 28, 2025. As of this date, the device will no longer link to Humane’s servers and access to Center will be discontinued. The product was initially announced to consumers in November 2023, and devices were finally delivered to users in April 2024.

Essentially, after February 28th, you’ll no longer be able to use features such as calling, messaging, AI inquiries, and cloud access with our service. To prevent losing your photos, videos, and other files, Humane advises users to connect to the services and download their data before this date. After February 28th, all user data will be permanently erased.

The discontinuation of services for the AI Pin occurs less than a year following its rocky debut, with tech reviewer Marques Brownlee criticizing it severely in his video analysis, labeling it as “the worst product I’ve ever reviewed.” In his assessment, he highlighted numerous issues encountered while using the device.

Contrary to expectations, it was HP that bought Humane for a whopping $116 million, as TechCrunch revealed. Yet, before this acquisition, the creators of Humane had successfully raised over $230 million in funding to develop their device. The report also suggests that HP will take ownership of some additional technologies from Humane, including its CosmOS AI operating system.

In its infancy stage, Artificial Intelligence continues to struggle for stability as corporations invest massive amounts in this technology. Keep an eye on Shacknews for updates regarding AI developments.
