Using GameShare on the Switch 2 is incredibly straightforward, albeit somewhat restricted at the moment. Unlike a hardware solution, GameShare operates via software integration. The extent to which games will be upgraded with this feature isn’t certain yet, but here’s all you need to know about how to utilize GameShare.
How to use GameShare on the Nintendo Switch 2
GameShare enables multiple individuals to enjoy a single game without each person needing to purchase a separate copy. However, there are certain conditions that apply.
- The Nintendo Switch 2 system can share compatible games with anyone who has a Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch system.
- While both Switch and Switch 2 can receive a shared game, only the Switch 2 may actually share it.
- While the Switch 2 can receive games both locally and via Game Chat, the Nintendo Switch 1 can only do so locally, as it does not support Game Chat.
- The Nintendo Switch 1 can ONLY receive games that are compatible with that system.
- Only compatible software can be used; this will not work with any or every game on the console.
When you initiate a compatible game, you’ll notice a “GameShare” option on the main menu screen. If there is no such option, it means the game isn’t compatible at this time. You may need to update it or consult the list below to check if the feature is supported by your game. For others you wish to share the game with, they simply need to press the “GameShare” button on their Home screen. As long as everyone is connected locally, you can then click ‘Start’ on the Nintendo Switch 2 console, allowing all players to enjoy the game simultaneously. If everyone is using a Nintendo Switch 2, use Game Share to form a group and hit start to begin playing together.
