As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that Update 46 has brought a wealth of fresh content to The Elder Scrolls Online. From intriguing questlines and captivating locations to enhancements in the core gameplay, this update is nothing short of fantastic!
The update dropped on June 2, 2025, and it didn’t just come alone; it was accompanied by the “Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1” DLC. But what has me truly excited is the long-awaited subclassing feature – a game-changer for sure!
Through subclassing, players can select three unique skill sets from different classes for their single character, opening up an enormous range of creative possibilities in terms of character development. This flexibility allows for endless experimentation with build designs. With more than 3,000 potential skill combinations now available, subclassing takes character customization to unprecedented levels. However, keep in mind that this feature is not immediately accessible and can only be used once certain requirements have been met.
Elder Scrolls Online: How To Unlock Subclassing
In Elder Scrolls Online, you’ll need to achieve three things to unlock subclassing:
1. Develop your character up to level 50.
2. Obtain the “Level 50 Hero” achievement.
3. Finish the quest titled “A Study in Discipline”.
For a novice player, reaching level 50 can take from a few days to a fortnight, depending on how quickly they progress. This is quite a significant milestone within the game.
Upon hitting level 50, you’ll earn the “Level 50 Hero” badge and access the “A Study in Discipline” mission. You can start this quest for no charge either through the Crown Store or from the subclassing interface within your Skills menu. Later, head to Bahtra at-Hunding in the main city of your alliance. She’ll ask you which discipline you’re interested in and provide thorough information about other classes if you ask.
After that, you’ll be given the chance to select “Free Disciplines.” A list of subclasses will appear, allowing you to pick the one you desire. To do this, you need to possess at least one skill from a different class first. Pick a skill set and swap one of your current skills for it. Then, speak with Bahtra once more to complete the mission.
Subclassing Rules
To acquire a fresh set of skills for your class, you have two options:
1. Attain the rank of 50 in the primary or subclass skill line by repeatedly improving your abilities. This will grant you mastery over that particular skill line.
2. Alternatively, you can borrow skills from another class through a process called subclassing. You can do this by speaking with Bahtra at-Hunding, using a Respecification Scroll, or interacting with a shrine. Once you’ve chosen the skill line to subclass, you’ll need to learn it and progress until you reach rank 50 and become a master of that skill line. You can also modify your selected skill lines through respecification.
