Similar to many puzzles found in Blue Prince, the true challenge lies in deciphering the type of reasoning behind them. The Dartboard puzzle within the Billiard room may appear straightforward due to its mathematical nature, but understanding the specific rules to abide by is where the real brainwork comes into play. In this guide, I’ll help you unravel the mystery piece by piece.
How to solve the Dartboard puzzle in the Billiard Room in Blue Prince
No need to fret, there’s no actual dart-throwing involved here. Instead, you’ll be solving some easy math problems with answers ranging from 1 to 20. After getting the correct answer, just tap the corresponding number on a virtual dartboard. If you’re right, you progress; if not, the puzzle restarts.
Initially, focus on solving the mathematical problems starting from within the board and moving towards its edges. Remember, the standard rules of mathematics may not apply here, so stay alert. As you progress, the board will illuminate with various sections displaying distinct colors. These colors indicate that specific mathematical operations need to be performed:
1. Green sections require addition.
2. Red sections require subtraction.
3. Blue sections require multiplication.
4. Yellow sections require division.
5. Purple sections require the operation of modulus (remainder when divided by a number).
6. Orange sections may require more complex operations or functions, so be prepared to apply your knowledge beyond the basic four arithmetic operations.
- Green – You add the numbers if there are multiple numbers; you take the number as your base if there is only one of them lit up.
- Yellow – You subtract from whatever your base number is.
- Pink – You multiply the number
- Purple – You divide the number
In this example, the number 12 is illuminated in green, making it our starting point or base number. If multiple numbers were green, we’d add them together. The number 8 is lit in yellow, indicating that we should subtract 8 from 12, resulting in 4. Next, the number 4 (our current result) and the number on the board (which is now illuminated in pink) both share the same value of 4. This means we multiply our current result (4) by this new number (4), giving us a total of 16. Clicking on this number 16 will advance the puzzle.
As you progress along each step, the dartboard will lift upward, uncovering a concealed compartment containing your reward. Similar to other challenges within the game, this task becomes increasingly complex as fresh symbols and their corresponding meanings are incorporated into the puzzle.
As a fan, I’m always excited to see new symbols popping up, whether they land right in the bullseye or surround the outer edge. The type of symbol determines the extra moves I’ll have to make.
- Square = ^2 (square the number)
- Diamond = You need to reverse the numbers
- Red dots = Repeat this step based on how many dots are displayed (two dots repeat twice, one dot, repeat once, etc.)
- Red X = do not perform this step
- Red slash = divide your final number by 2
- Two wavy lines = round (up or down) to the nearest 1
- Four wavy lines = round to the nearest 10
- Six wavy lines = round to the nearest 100
- A section of the dartboard is one third full = divide that number by 3
