How to save – Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Similar to the first game, saving progress in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is heavily restricted. Unlike many games, there’s no instant save or load feature available. Instead, you’ll have to rely on various manual and automatic save options, although one of these methods does serve a function similar to quick save – it just requires additional steps.

How to save

As an ardent fan, I’ve discovered four methods to secure my progress in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The game autosaves whenever I engage in significant discussions with characters about quests (not casual chats with merchants). After I take a rest, the game also saves automatically. For added safety, I can opt to manually save by consuming a Saviour Schnapps. Lastly, there’s a convenient Save and Quit option for those who prefer to pause their adventure.

The intended method for manually saving a game is Saviour Schnapps. You can consume it at any location, ensuring your progress is securely stored. The superiority of the drink may grant you minor perks as well.

Instead of relying on frequent saves using Saviour Schnaps, it’s more efficient to employ the Save and Quit strategy. Although it can be tiresome, it ensures you don’t run out of these items during critical moments like a tough combat situation. For instance, I saved my game after successfully taking down two bandits in silence early on, as I was running low on Saviour Schnapps.

In general terms, the save system of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is user-friendly and offers some leeway. It often saves just before significant battles or quest stages to allow you to reattempt if things go awry. Yet, the classic Save and Exit option remains useful when needed.
