In Elden Ring Nightreign, the game maintains an engaging roguelike cycle by incorporating diverse events. One such event is the Sentient Pest Raid, which triggers swarms of locusts in a particular area. As soon as they spawn, these groups of locusts detonate, causing any player within range to lose a level. If you don’t eliminate the source of the infestation, there’s a risk that you could lose all your levels and be reduced to level one.
As a devoted player in the thrilling world of Nightreign, I’d advise you to proactively hunt down the origins of those relentless locust swarms to overpower the raid boss responsible. Here’s a helpful guide on managing locust swarms, vanquishing their source, and restoring your lost runes in Nightreign.
How To Avoid Locust Swarms In Nightreign
During a Sentient Pest raid on your mission, hordes of locusts will rush the game map with the intention of surrounding players and subsequently detonating. Being trapped in a locust blast can lead to losing a level, potentially reducing it to the initial level one if caution is not exercised. Therefore, when locusts appear on the map, your team should abandon their objectives and swiftly search for the source of the infestation instead.
Locust swarms often zero in on individuals who stand still or move at a slow pace, such as joggers. Additionally, these swarms produce a warning noise when they’re preparing to congregate, offering a brief moment to vacate the area before their attack.
Although the locust swarm eventually disperses, not destroying the source of the infestation means you’ll permanently forfeit your progress in this run. Additionally, if the swarm attacks during a close proximity to a boss battle, it could leave you at a disadvantage due to under-leveling. Consequently, it is crucial to locate and eliminate the Sentient Pest (the source) to get rid of the swarm and restore your lost runes.
How To Locate The Sentient Pest
As a gamer, I’ve found myself often baffled when facing massive swarms of locusts, thinking they appear out of nowhere. However, there’s a trick I’ve learned – after these swarms burst, they seem to head in the same direction. So, if you follow them, you can eventually lead yourself to where the Sentient Pest boss is orchestrating their attacks from. It’s like they’re his minions, and tracking them helps me pinpoint his location, making the game a tad less challenging!
In contrast to the formidable Nightlord boss, the Sentient Pest we faced during the raid was noticeably less powerful. Its health bar seemed almost insignificant compared to its counterpart. Additionally, it appeared to have a restricted arsenal of attacks, which made defeating it relatively swift – I managed to take it down within just a few minutes.
Overcoming the Intellectual Menace grants you the Integration of Intelligence boost, potentially allowing you to acquire a substantial number of runes when vanquishing adversaries. Furthermore, you’ll regain an equivalent amount of runes to your lost levels, along with additional runes for triumphing over the boss. Successfully completing the Sentient Pest raid for the first time also bestows you with the Plague of Locusts trophy/achievement.
