How to rail grind

In Mario Kart World, to initiate grinding along a rail, simply steer towards it and drive on it in the same direction the rail is moving. Once you’re on it, your kart will adhere automatically, starting the grinding process. Continuously press the accelerate button to preserve your speed. Additionally, you can drop directly onto a rail to start grinding as well.

If there’s no step or easy access point leading from the ground up to the rail, or if you can’t simply jump onto it, you’ll have to execute a Charge Jump to leap onto it instead. This trick is handy when you miss the step and find yourself next to the rail as well.

To get ready for a jump, first, keep your left stick still and simultaneously press the A button, followed by the R button. This action will make your character crouch down and start charging a jump. Once you release the R button, your character will execute the jump. If you’d like to jump in a specific direction before releasing the R button, move the left stick accordingly. The longer you hold the R button, the more powerful your Charge Jump will be.

In the world of Mario Kart Tour, rail grinding is an effective technique to employ during races or free roaming. You can initiate a rail grind in two ways: either by driving onto the rail or using a Charge Jump to leap onto it when there’s no ramp or if you’ve missed one. Keep your eyes peeled for opportunities to rail grind, as there are numerous rails scattered throughout the game! For more tips on movement options, head over to our Mario Kart World page.
