In the game Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Yasuke is a significant character. Initially, a slave, he was adopted by Oda Nobunaga and exposed to both Japanese traditions and samurai lifestyle. However, contrary to what you might expect, he isn’t immediately accessible within the game. Here’s how you can unlock Yasuke in the game.
How to play as Yasuke in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
To start playing as Yasuke, you should initially play as Naoe and progress through approximately 10 to 12 hours of gameplay first. During this time, complete the elimination of the initial two assassination targets that belong to the main group of antagonists within the game. These targets can be located on the Objectives board and are named Golden Teppo and Wada Koretake. They are members of the Shinbakufu faction.
This adventure takes you to the Temple of the Horseman, a quest where you’ll confront Oda Nobunaga directly. Upon completion of this mission, you have the option to control Yasuke. Both Naoe and Yasuke present unique gameplay experiences. While Naoe is a stealthy, assassin-like character, Yasuke is a bold warrior who excels in intense, large-scale battles, but isn’t as agile in stealth maneuvers as Naoe is. Instead, he shines in chaotic, sprawling fights where Naoe might struggle to survive.
On both the main loadout screen and upon fast-traveling to various vantage points or Kakurega hideouts scattered across the map, you’ll have the ability to modify your characters.
