As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for sci-fi and puzzle elements, I can’t help but get excited about Splitgate 2! Having dabbled a bit in the original game, I can vouch for its unique blend of Halo-esque combat and Portal-like portal mechanics. The upcoming sequel promises to amplify this captivating mix with a larger budget and more features.
You might not be familiar with Splitgate, but it’s one of the top games that you should consider trying out. Excitingly, a sequel to this game, titled Splitgate 2, has been announced recently! This new edition is an expansion of the original, boasting a larger budget and a host of additional features designed to enhance your gaming experience.
For individuals unfamiliar with Splitgate, it’s essentially a blend of Halo-style action and Portal’s portal mechanics in an arena shooter setting. The game stands out due to its innovative mechanic where players can create portals to traverse between different areas of the map, similar to Valve’s Portal series. This additional layer of strategy sets Splitgate apart from other games, as the portals serve various purposes such as travel, escape routes, protective barriers, and even tactical advantage points for surprising opponents or shooting them through the portal.
1047 Games has announced that they are opening up an Alpha testing phase for their upcoming game, Splitgate 2, but haven’t set a release date just yet. The Alpha test will take place from August 21st through the 25th, and here’s how you can get involved:
At present, there are two options for getting early access to Splitgate 2. The first choice is to navigate to the Splitgate 2 page on Steam and press the ‘Request Access’ button to express your desire to join the Alpha. If you’re chosen, you’ll get a notification within the Steam platform and the download will become available in your library.
Another approach to getting access involves tuning into live Splitgate 2 broadcasts on Twitch for a span of two hours. By doing this, you’ll receive an Alpha key, ensuring entry. However, I strongly advise trying out the first method as well, as it will significantly increase your chances of playing straight away.
