As a seasoned Destiny 2 gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the Malfeasance Exotic Hand Cannon quest, Darkness in the Light, is a true test of endurance and determination for any Guardian worth their salt. This legendary weapon, adorned with its menacing appearance, has been a thorn in the side (pun intended) of players since its introduction back in 2018.
The Malfeasance Exotic Hand Cannon in Destiny 2 is a Taken-killing monster. Unfortunately, acquiring the Malfeasance Hand Cannon is no simple task. The reason for this is that the quest, Darkness in the Light, is only dropped by Primeval bosses in Gambit. Even after acquiring the quest to unlock Malfeasance, the difficulty doesn’t end there. Players will need to contend with bosses that require killing, a unique Strike, and a long romp through dozens of Gambit matches. Who’d of thought that an Exotic Hand Cannon from 2018 would still be relevant all these years later?

How to get Malfeasance – Darkness in the Light
As a devoted Destiny 2 fan, I can share with you that to acquire Malfeasance, you need to initiate the quest called “The Darkness Within” in Destiny 2. This quest becomes available upon defeating the Taken Primeval boss during a game of Gambit. In simpler terms, you must triumph over other players and enemies in a single Gambit match to unlock this mission. Previously, players had to face an Ascendant Primeval Servitor, which randomly appeared every three weeks for a chance to earn this powerful weapon.

Taken bosses or minibosses
As a seasoned Destiny 2 player with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently suggest an efficient way to amass 25 Taken boss or miniboss defeats: venture into the mystical realm of the Dreaming City and immerse yourself in its captivating activities. The Blind Well, a place well-known for teeming with Taken foes, particularly the formidable Tier 3 enemies, is an excellent starting point. For those seeking a quicker route, the Chamber of Starlight and Aphelion’s Rest Lost Sectors offer a bountiful harvest of Taken adversaries.
The Corrupted mission
In Rheasilvia, instead of the regular Strike experience, you’ll encounter a unique variant of The Corrupted. This version is initiated through a banner and doesn’t mix up with the Strike’s usual progression. While advancing through the area like normal in the Strike, you’ll eventually reach a new sector. Here, prepare for a battle against a Taken boss and search for Callum Sol’s grave.
To advance further with Malfeasance, you must first finish a unique variation of the “Corrupted Strike” in the Dreaming City. This alternative Strike leads you to Callum’s grave, an area uncovered prior to Malfeasance’s release. Once this Strike is completed, players should go back to Drift in the Tower for the next set of instructions.
Deposit Motes of Dark & win matches
As a dedicated fan, I’m here to guide you through this step. You’ll be required to hand over Mottes of Dark and emerge victorious in Gambit battles. The buzz around town is that you need to accumulate 500 Mottes of Dark for the initial phase. However, be warned that if you meet your demise while carrying these mottes, it will cost you double the points (losing 10 will set you back 20 points).
As a dedicated mote collector, my sole responsibility is to amass and deposit as many motes as possible. To accomplish this mission effectively, ensure you’re wearing the best gear to clear adds. Once equipped, dart around the area, scooping up motes left and right. With your class ability activated, engage Powerful Attraction to swiftly gather any nearby motes.
After completing the Mote of Dark sequence, there’s no turning back. Forget about gathering motes or perishing with them, your primary focus should be on emerging victorious in each match. Equip yourself with the most effective and meta monkey accessories to guarantee that your Primeval goes down before your adversary’s does.
Invading in Gambit
In the “Darkness in the Light” quest, this particular step may pose a significant challenge for many players. To complete this mission, there are two essential tasks:
You can defeat fourteen opposing Guardians by having an ally invade and win against four of them at a time, repeated three times. Another option is to eliminate fourteen Guardians in one invasion if you’re capable. If your team has a strong invader, consider letting them take the lead. However, if you trust your own skills to get four kills during a single invasion, then go for it.
In the following stage, you’ll find this task uncomplicated: All you need to do is eliminate 25 adversary Guardians. Eliminating an enemy invader or invading and earning kills will add to your total. Remember, use the most effective gear for subduing Guardians that’s currently popular. Xenophage continues to be a top pick.
