How to get a bow – RuneScape: Dragonwilds

In RuneScape for the first time, you’ll truly find use for a bow during your hunting tasks. Approaching wild animals can be challenging since they tend to flee easily. It’s at these moments that a bow proves extremely useful, but acquiring one requires effort.

How to get a bow in RuneScape: Dragonwilds

In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, most items are hidden behind a certain quantity of resources. To create anything, you first need to acquire the crafting stations necessary for its production, which can also be locked away due to other farming requirements. It’s somewhat intricate, but the key is to gather everything you come across at the start of the game in order to unlock as many recipes as possible.

To begin with, your primary requirement is a spinner, and to acquire its recipe, you’ll need to gather flax plants. These are flowering plants with beautiful blue blossoms that thrive in profusion around the Bramblehmead Valley region. Gathering twelve of these will unlock the spinner. Once unlocked, you can construct it using the following resources:

  • 12 Ash Logs
  • 4 Flax
  • 2 Stone
  • Important note – you HAVE to build this under a roof for it to work, you cannot place it outside. The spinning wheel just needs roof coverage above, however, not a fully formed roof or building.

With your newly acquired spinning wheel in hand, feel free to engage with it and incorporate some Flax. This action will initiate the process of creating Coarse Thread at a one-to-one ratio. Once you’ve started producing this thread, you’ll also gain access to a recipe for the Ash Shortbow. To craft the Ash Shortbow, head over to your Crafting Table with these resources:

  • 12 Ash Logs
  • 3 Coarse Thread

To proceed, don’t forget to gather arrows too, and try to unlock various types after finding additional resources. Craft some of them at your Workshop. If you lack arrow recipes, it might be that you’re missing feathers, which can be obtained by slaying chickens. You can find these birds near the windmill in Temple Woods, where you previously battled giant rats.

Following that, feel free to embark on your hunting expedition. However, remember that one bullet might not be sufficient to fell most creatures, so be ready to fire multiple shots swiftly since they may flee a considerable distance upon being startled.
