As a seasoned Stalker with years of trekking through the Exclusion Zone under my belt, I must admit, it’s refreshing to see the developers incorporating a touch of modernity without compromising the game’s core essence. Fast travel, though not the instantaneous teleportation we’re used to, is a welcome addition that strikes a balance between authenticity and accessibility.
In a somewhat unique twist, although Stalker 2 doesn’t follow many contemporary gaming trends, it has integrated a feature resembling fast travel. This element serves as a compromise between preserving the authentic Stalker experience for veterans and acknowledging that traversing vast territories can be time-consuming. It won’t make the game overly easy, but in tricky situations, this new addition could prove quite useful.
How to fast travel in Stalker 2
As a gamer, I find that I can use fast travel once I’ve explored and reached two distinct towns or cities. However, it’s important to note that this feature is only available for the Guide characters stationed in major settlements. Unfortunately, smaller waypoints and landmarks aren’t accessible through fast travel; you’ll need to traverse those areas on foot or by other means of transportation.
To quickly move between different settlements, look for a Guide within these locations. When found, these places will appear on your compass with a symbol resembling a compass rose (as shown in the image provided). Speak to the Guide and if you’ve discovered another settlement, you can then instantly travel there.
This option isn’t complimentary and could potentially cost a significant amount of coupons, varying based on your destination and the distance between the two spots. Given this, it may not be something you can do frequently in the initial stages of the game, as you’ll likely want to save your coupons for essential items such as ammunition.
