How to Die Alone Trailer Previews Natasha Rothwell-Led Comedy Series

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for quirky comedies that resonate with real-life struggles, I’m genuinely excited about the upcoming Hulu series, How to Die Alone. Having spent countless hours navigating virtual worlds and overcoming challenges, I find it refreshing to see a character like Melissa, who embarks on a journey to conquer her own life obstacles in the most relatable yet unconventional way possible.

On September 13, 2024, Hulu will premiere the trailer for its upcoming comedy series titled “How to Die Alone,” created by Natasha Rothwell, former cast member of Insecure. The story revolves around a character played by Rothwell, who is an airport employee and chooses to embrace life following a close brush with death.

How to Die Alone is slated to make its debut with the first four episodes starting on Friday, September 13. Rothwell is joined by Conrad Ricamora (How to Get Away with Murder) as Rory, KeiLyn Durrel Jones (Sparring Partner) as Terrance, Jocko Sims (The Last Ship) as Alex, and Bashir Salahuddin (Top Gun: Maverick) as Brian.

What is How to Die Alone about?

As a gamer, I find myself drawn into the whimsical world of “Rothwell’s Mel,” a character who, unlike me, has never known the thrill of romance and seems to lack clear goals or ambitions. Yet, she’s not just any employee—she works at an airport! The twist is, she’s petrified of flying. In the trailer, Mel labels herself as “flat broke” and her family views her as a hopeless case. But one fateful day, after an unexpected mishap, Mel decides to shake things up and seize life by the horns, no matter how tough the journey might be.

“Mel expressed that she was fed up with only listening to others and was now ready to listen to herself, marking the beginning of a fresh chapter in her life,” said Rothwell’s character.

As a gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: “In an upcoming series, I, Melissa (Rothwell), a Black woman with a nervous disposition who’s never experienced love, find myself in a humorous near-death experience. Determined to live the life I truly desire, I embark on a transformative journey, striving to become ‘100% that boss lady’ in reality, using whatever means necessary.”
