How to complete the Fox Quest in Black Myth: Wukong
In Chapter 3, you’ll encounter the spirit of a fox by a deceased body leaning against a timber construction, situated to the left side of the Forest of Happiness Shrine along a pathway. Approach it, and it will initiate conversation, imploring your aid.
One time, a wounded fox spirit was assisted by a man. Grateful for his kindness, the spirit remained so until the man experienced a terrible dream and ended up slaying it. After that, the man embarked on a solitary journey to become a monk, leaving the spirit behind. Now, the fox spirit intends to confront the man, who can be found in the left sector of the Thunderclap Temple.
Transforming yourself into a sly fox offers a valuable advantage: you can maneuver stealthily without drawing unwanted attention. However, should you ever lose this form, there’s an artifact known as the Snow Fox Brush at your disposal, which allows you to revert back to your original state.
Continue on this lengthy, slightly meandering trail until you encounter a crimson barrier, past which two adversaries dressed in yellow robes may attempt an ambush. Persist along the path until you find a dilapidated wooden archway and a shrine nearby.
Ahead lies a group of adversaries and some stairs on your right, ascending towards a foreboding red glow. It’s time for a boss battle, as defeating one of the Captains mentioned by The Third Prince is crucial if you want to advance. Once Captain Kalpa Wave is defeated, proceed into the temple and activate the Temple Entrance Shrine.
Advance directly toward the structure in front of you. Upon reaching it, you’ll notice a sizable staircase flanked by four caster adversaries. Instead of going up the central stairs, opt for those on the left side first. Afterward, circumvent the new area by running along its outer edge before descending the left-side stairs that lead to another temple.
Step indoors, and you’ll spot a staircase on your right side. Climb these stairs, and when you reach the top, veer to the right, follow the walkway, and you will encounter a small door. Note that there are two wheels (casters) attached to this door; it would be best to remove them before proceeding because their electric powers can be quite bothersome. You’re now very near to the Chapter 3 location of Horse Guai.
Follow this path, and you’ll come across a big stone stairway slightly to your left. Ascend there, and you’ll encounter the monk. Don’t forget to transform into a fox using the Snow Fox Brush prior to entering, as it will lead to a cutscene and an upcoming boss battle.
