How to complete the Saving the Mole task in Escape from Tarkov

To finish off the mission “Saving the Mole”, head up to Terragroup HQ, which is situated in the northern part of Ground Zero. This place can’t be missed due to the large Terragroup logo emblazoned on its exterior.

If you arrive at the garage, walk towards the vehicle (a van) located at the far end of the room where there are motionless PMC bodies. After that, turn right and follow the hallway to reach the reception area, also known as the lobby. Alternatively, you can enter through the main lobby situated on the main road. Regardless of your entrance point, start by heading to the back-right section of the lobby, pass through the doorway, and then proceed to your left.


As I venture down the decaying corridor, I come across the lifeless form of a scientist. On his person, I find a crucial key – it’s the one I need to unlock the door leading to the hard drive location. If the key seems absent, it means someone else has nabbed it before me; chances are that the door is already open.

After reaching the lobby, take the staircase on your right (which you passed upon entering), go up to the top floor. Upon exiting the stairway, turn right and proceed along the hallway. You’ll find a locked door located on your right side.

Upon entering the room, make your way towards the computer screen positioned near the windows. You may find the hard drive either beside the keyboard or on the lower shelf to its right.

To keep the hard drive in your possession, you need to take it out first. If you fail to do this before you meet your end, it will be lost from your inventory. However, if you manage to successfully extract it, head over to Mechanic’s task list and hand over the hard drive to him to complete the mission known as “Saving the Mole”.

If you’re finding it challenging to reach a specific room regularly, here are a couple of strategies you might consider. The initial one suggests going to Ground Zero during the night hours. Nighttime raids tend to be quieter, making it less likely for others to spot you. Secondly, think about hanging out in a secluded area of the map for approximately 15-20 minutes. This gives other Player Mercenary Command (PMC) players time to complete their tasks elsewhere.
