Gear you need for the Black Bear Guai fight
Prior to taking on Black Bear Guai, it’s essential to defeat some optional bosses first. You’ll want to conquer the Wandering Wight for the Spirit attack ability, Guangzhi for the Red Tides transformation, and Elder Jinchi after ringing the three bells; this rewards you with the Fireproof Mantle Vessel, which makes you resistant to fire damage.
After vanquishing the Whiteclad Noble, enhance your staff and don the complete Pilgrim’s outfit. The Pilgrim’s gear increases your attack power post-sprint, and your staff will display red glows when the additional damage is activated. Seek moments to sprint towards the bear for a slight damage advantage.
Make sure to enhance your Immobilize Spell to its maximum potential. Boosting the Crash, Stagnation, and Evanescence properties allows for greater damage infliction on the boss. Aim to accumulate enough Sparks so as to unlock two Focus Points, enabling you to execute more powerful attacks. It’s also advisable to upgrade Robust Constitution completely for better resilience.
How to beat Black Bear Guai
To initiate the Black Bear Guai battle effectively, consider spending 10 seconds running around the shrine initially. Then, keep sprinting up the stairs and towards the boss. Running for 10 seconds followed by a single strike will boost the power of your opening attack due to the Pilgrim’s Garb. If you cease running before that, you’ll lose the damage bonus this outfit provides.
Once you score your initial hit, follow up with an Immobilize and continue attacking him to initiate charging your first Focus Point. As soon as he manages to free himself, change into Red Tides and deliver swift attacks to build your meter. When the meter is fully charged, evade and execute a heavy attack for a powerful slam. If possible, repeat this sequence. Upon transforming back into the Destined One, deploy your Spirit move, at which point the boss should be down to about 25% of its health bar.
As a thrilled spectator, I’d advise you now to witness an extraordinary transformation: The Black Bear Guai should metamorphose into a swirling, fiery black mist and dart nimbly across the arena. To make dodging his attacks a breeze, sprint up and down the central aisle. Keep your eyes peeled for when the bear reappears, then exercise patience yet again until he finishes any attack sequences. The objective here is to spot opportunities when the bear seems momentarily vulnerable, during its recovery periods.
In the heated battle, I’d advise focusing on finding safe opportunities to strike the boss instead. Use that downtime to dart around, building up power for those devastating blows, and slipping in quick, nimble attacks where you can. Keep an eye on the recharge of your Immobilize ability, because when it’s ready, move in swiftly to immobilize the boss, then capitalize on the moment by dealing extra damage.
Key risks in this battle are the bear’s fire column assaults, lengthy combos, and its misty shape as it swiftly moves around the arena. It would be beneficial to familiarize yourself with these actions. If you find yourself on fire, use the Fireproof Cloak to extinguish the flames and protect yourself from additional fire damage. Keep in mind that his attacks can cause significant harm even if they don’t ignite you.
For the rest of this battle, it’s all about staying patient. Continue dodging to build up your attack power, apply Immobilize whenever it’s available, and if fortune favors you, you could trigger another Red Tides transformation.
