That ’90s Show part 4 teased to take place during school year

Following the airing of episode 3 of “That ’90s Show” on August 20, Netflix has yet to announce a renewal for season 4. However, given its connection to a beloved franchise and relatively low production costs compared to other Netflix originals, it’s likely that we’ll see more episodes in the future. In other words, a fourth season (and possibly beyond) seems probable on Netflix.

If there’s another season of That ’90s Show, it might buck the trend from the series by happening outside of the summer season. Previously, parts 1 were set in the summer of ’95, while parts 2 and 3 unfolded during the summer of ’96. However, part 3 ended on a note where Leia was planning to relocate permanently to Point Place for school, starting the academic year right away with her circle of friends.

As the season draws to a close, Donna reveals that Eric has been given an opportunity to work alongside George Lucas on the upcoming Star Wars films in California. When her mother presents some housing alternatives, it’s clear that Leia prefers the one that allows her to remain in Point Place with her boyfriend and friends. Consequently, they decide to relocate to Point Place, while Donna will make frequent trips back and forth to Eric.

It seems that Leia could be exploring the boundaries of her new living arrangement, as she and her friends secretly slip out of their home one night before the start of school at Point Place High. In an attempt to outdo each other’s parental authority, Kitty tacitly permits Leia’s departure. The gang then spends the evening up on the school rooftop, smoking something and reveling in the final moments of summer – an exciting turn of events as Nate and Nikki rekindle their relationship!

In terms of direction for That ’90s Show season 4, there are two possible scenarios: either we skip ahead to the next summer and fill in the missing details using flashbacks, or we carry on immediately from where part 3 ended. Greg Mettler, the showrunner, has hinted at his intention to explore the school year and holidays, which fits nicely with what part 3 has established. Here’s hoping this exciting development is still on the horizon!
