What is A Discovery of Witches about?

The show is based on Deborah Harkness’s “All Souls” trilogy. It introduces Diana Bishop, a woman born with witch abilities but chooses to abandon her magical past. However, she’ll be forced to confront it soon as she’s the only one who can locate a mysterious, lost book. As a result, the entire magical community becomes determined to find her.

One of those is Matthew Clairmont, a professor, researcher, and a vampire. He is trying to figure out why vampires can’t turn other vampires and why the various species in the world are dying out.
