House of the Dragon Season 2 Finale Leaks Online on TikTok & X

As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher with a penchant for epic sagas like Game of Thrones and its prequel House of the Dragon, I must say, this leak fiasco is as frustrating as a glitch in my favorite MMORPG during a raid.

The last episode of “House of the Dragon Season 2” is scheduled to broadcast on August 4th Sunday. However, parts of it have already been leaked on platforms like TikTok and X (previously known as Twitter) about five days earlier. As a prequel to the hugely popular series “Game of Thrones”, “House of the Dragon” is currently one of the most discussed TV shows globally. Given its predecessor’s popularity, the leak of the House of the Dragon finale has garnered significant attention.

HBO’s House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 8 gets leaked days before air date

On Tuesday evening, a TikTok user shared previews from the upcoming finale of House of the Dragon Season 2. Approximately three hours following the leak, these videos were viewed between 50,000 and 100,000 times each, and they were also disseminated by other TikTok users, as well as on platform X.

On previous occasions, similar incidents have occurred with House of the Dragon, including its precursor. As far back as October 2022, the finale of House of the Dragon’s first season was leaked before it aired officially. HBO acknowledged this incident in a statement to Variety, indicating that a distributor in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region was responsible for the leak.

“It’s been noticed that the tenth episode of House of the Dragon has been leaked on unauthorized torrent platforms. It seems this leak might have come from a distributor within the EMEA region. HBO is actively working to remove these pirated copies online. We regret that this illegal action has spoiled the viewing enjoyment for devoted fans, who will be able to watch a high-quality version of the episode when it airs on HBO and HBO Max this Sunday, where it will stream exclusively in 4K.”

In various instances, episodes from Game of Thrones were shared on social platforms and illegal websites prior to their official release. Similar to past incidents involving leaks, HBO is once again grappling with the challenge of controlling the dissemination of unauthorized footage from House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 8.
