As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for RPGs and a knack for anticipating gaming releases, I must admit that Honor of Kings: World has been a rollercoaster ride of expectations and disappointments. From the tantalizing trailers to the whispers of a potential global release, I’ve found myself on the edge of my seat, clutching onto hope like a long-lost treasure map.
One of the long-anticipated yet often overlooked role-playing games, previously known as Honor of Kings: World, has been brought back to life following its official release window announcement during the Apple Event held on September 9, 2024. This event also showcased the upcoming Apple devices, such as the brand new iPhone 16 and its high-end variants.
Honor of Kings: World is an action Role-Playing Game (RPG) based on the well-known Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game, Honor of Kings, which was first introduced some years ago. Several trailers have given us a glimpse into its gameplay and other aspects, as well as the information that it utilizes the Unreal Engine.
While Wuthering Waves making its way into the Apple Event was a huge deal to me personally, I was surprised to see Honor of Kings: World. In fact, just like many other players, I was also on the side of “It is just one of those good-looking immersive Chinese action games that would never get a global release.”
Interestingly enough, it appears I made a mistake. During the Apple Event, not only did we get a glimpse of the Apple event, but also a sneak peek at the gameplay for Honor of Kings: World on the upcoming iPhone 16. Additionally, Apple announced that the game would offer an “ultra graphics mode” specifically designed for the iPhone 16s, as well as enhanced visual features such as “advanced global illumination technology,” “extended draw distance,” and many other improvements.
Although Tencent hasn’t disclosed the specific launch date for Honor of Kings: World as of now, it is confirmed that the game is set to debut on both PC and mobile devices in the year 2025.
