As a devoted fan of quality television, I am absolutely thrilled that “Homicide: Life on the Street” is finally making its streaming debut after three decades! This groundbreaking procedural crime drama, based on David Simon’s book and hailed as one of the most highly regarded police dramas of all time, first graced our screens on NBC in 1992. I still remember those early days when we were introduced to the fictionalized version of the Baltimore Police Department’s Homicide Unit and their tireless pursuit of justice.
After nearly 30 years, the crime drama series “Homicide: Life on the Street” is now available for streaming for the first time since it originally aired on NBC.
According to David Simon’s book “Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets,” the critically acclaimed TV show “Homicide: Life on the Street” premiered on the network in 1992 and continued for seven seasons, producing a total of 122 episodes. After its conclusion, a 2000 film titled “Homicide: The Movie” marked the end of the series.

Starting August 19, 2024 in the US, you can stream both “Homicide: Life on the Street” and its film adaptation, “Homicide: The Movie,” on Peacock. These shows depict the investigative cases handled by a fictionalized version of Baltimore’s Homicide Unit.

Paul Attanasio was the mastermind behind the series’ creation. Tom Fontana took on the role of head writer and showrunner.
