Holes: Greg Kinnear & 9 More Cast in Disney+ Reboot TV Show

Greg Kinnear and nine more actors have joined the cast of Disney+’s Holes series.

The novel “Holes” is a work penned by Louis Sachar, published back in 1998. Earlier, it was adapted into a film, directed by Andrew Davis, which hit theaters through Walt Disney Pictures in April 2003. The movie boasted talents such as Shia LaBeouf, Sigourney Weaver, Jon Voight, Patricia Arquette, and Tim Blake Nelson in its cast.

Disney has decided to adapt the story of Holes into a new TV series, with Liz Phang serving as the showrunner and Alina Mankin writing the scripts.

Who has joined the cast of the Disney+ Holes show?

Besides Kinnear from Little Miss Sunshine, the cast of Holes also features Aidy Bryant, known for her roles in Shill and Saturday Night Live, as Sissy. Shay Rudolph, recognized from Lethal Weapon, plays Hayley. Flor Delis Alicea takes on the role of Queenie, Anire Kim Amoda, who starred in The Penguin, is Thumbelina. Noah Cottrell, best known for The Spiderwick Chronicles, portrays Kitch, and Iesha Daniels appears as Mars. Sophie Dieterlen steps into the role of Sticky, Alexandra Doke, from City on Fire, plays Eyeball, and Maeve Press, famous for Theresa Is a Mother, is Shrimp in this production.

The plot of the series goes like this: “Hayley, a teenager, is under the watchful eye of Holes as she gets sent to a strict detention center. Here, the stern Warden has the inmates dig holes for an unexplained reason.” (Deadline)

In contrast to Sachar’s book, the central character is not a male protagonist but rather Stanley Yelnats, and the storyline involves his imprisonment at a Texas boys’ correctional facility, which is overseen by a woman as its warden.

Phang and Mankin are joined by Drew Goddard, Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles, Jac Schaeffer, and Andrea Massaro as executive producers on the show. Schaeffer is responsible for directing the first episode, while Massaro serves as co-executive producer. Walden Media, known for producing the 2003 movie Holes, will also join as an executive producer, along with Mike Medavoy.

A Disney+ premiere date for the Holes television show has not yet been announced.
