What happens in the His Three Daughters trailer?

In the official trailer, Elizabeth Olsen, Carrie Coon, and Natasha Lyonne are presented as sisters returning home to be with their ailing father during his last days. Yet, their family reunion unearths hidden conflicts between them.

Azazel Jacobs helms both the writing and direction of “His Three Daughters.” The movie features performances from Rudy Galvan, Jose Febus, Jasmine Bracey, Jay O. Sanders, and Jovan Adepo. Not only does Olsen, Coon, and Lyonne star in the film, but they also serve as executive producers, joined by Maya Rudolph, Danielle Renfrew Behrens, Neil Shah, Max Silva, Peter Friedland, and Sophia Lin. Jacobs, Alex Orlovsky, Duncan Montgomery, Matt Aselton, Marc Marrie, Mal Ward, Lia Buman, Tim Headington, and Jack Selby produce the project.

“The film tells a poignant and at times humorous tale of an aging patriarch and his three adult daughters who reunite during his final days, as depicted in the synopsis. Katie (Coon), a controlling mother from Brooklyn, grapples with her rebellious teenage daughter’s misbehavior; Christina (Olsen), a free-spirited mom, experiences separation from her children for the first time; and Rachel (Lyonne), a sports-betting stoner who has never left her father’s apartment, faces frustration from her half-sisters due to their different mothers and perspectives. Jacobs skillfully delves into the complexities of family relationships in this confined setting, chronicling the sisters’ tumultuous three-day journey as they confront death, resolve grudges, and rediscover love amidst a fractured household.”
