As a fervent admirer of gripping dramas and powerhouse performances, I am absolutely thrilled about the forthcoming limited series, His & Hers. The casting of Jon Bernthal (Daredevil: Born Again) as detective Jack and Pablo Schreiber (Halo) as cameraman Richard has me brimming with anticipation.
Netflix has announced that Jon Bernthal (Daredevil: Born Again) and Pablo Schreiber (Halo) will join the cast of the upcoming six-episode limited drama titled ‘His & Hers’, which is adapted from Alice Feeney’s book with the same name.
Following his triumphant win of his first Emmy Award for his portrayal as Mike Berzatto in The Bear Season 2, Bernthal will take on the role of detective Jack. In contrast, Schreiber has been chosen to embody cameraman Richard. Here are their complete character breakdowns:
- Bernthal’s Jack – is a Sheriff’s Office detective who lost his last job and is now working in his small hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia, where he lives with his sister and niece. He is married to newscaster Anna (Tessa Thompson), but the two are estranged, their relationship complicated by loss and betrayal. Jack is a good man who doesn’t always make good decisions and is deeply troubled by the murder case he’s just picked up.
- Schreiber’s Richard – is one of the best cameramen at WSK TV News, and he’s also the husband of hot new anchor Lexy Jones, who slid into her position during the recent absence of regular anchor Anna Andrews. Richard is chosen by Anna to be her cameraman when, upon her return, she picks up the story of a murder in Dahlonega as a field reporter.
Who will lead the His & Hers cast?
Tessa Thompson, an Emmy nominee known for roles in Creed and Sylvie’s Love, takes on the dual role of starring as news anchor Anna and serving as an executive producer in His & Hers. The series is further led by showrunner Dee Johnson and Bill Dubuque, who are also involved as executive producers.
Filming for the miniseries will take place this autumn. The executive producers are Kristen Campo, Jessica Chastain, Kelly Carmichael, Kishori Rajan, and William Oldroyd, with Oldroyd directing the first episode. The series is a project by Fifth Season.
The logline for the show states that Anna, who once was a news anchor in Atlanta but now lives secluded and seems to be fading away from her friends and career, finds herself reinvigorated when she hears about a murder in Dahlonega, her hometown. This tragic event sets Anna on a quest for answers. Detective Jack Harper, however, appears to view Anna with suspicion regarding her involvement, leading him to investigate her more closely. The narrative presents two perspectives: his and hers, suggesting that deception is at play in this tale.
