Hideo Kojima wants to be the first game developer to make games in space – “I’m not a scientist, but I could probably make games in space”

Video game pioneer Hideo Kojima, known for creating Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding, is about to unveil his next project, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, in a matter of days. With plans for his horror game OD and stealth-action game Physint, Kojima is also gazing towards the cosmos, dreaming of crafting video games within space.

As a gamer, I’m fired up about the vision of legendary game creator, Kojima. In a recent chat, he shared his dream: to be the pioneer among game developers, crafting a game beyond our planetary boundaries – in outer space! Just like Tom Cruise plans to shoot a movie on the International Space Station, Kojima’s ambition is to push gaming frontiers there too.

Kojima wants to make a game in space

According to an interview with The Guardian, Kojima shared his ambition to develop a video game set in outer space. Though he hasn’t yet decided on the specifics of the game, Kojima aims to prepare himself by learning how to adapt to zero-gravity environments for potential future projects.

The creator of Metal Gear Solid expressed his desire to receive proper training, master the art of docking, visit and reside at the International Space Station for several months,” he stated. “Although I’m not a scientist, I believe I could create games from space. I aspire to be the first to do so. Given that there are many astronauts over 60, it seems plausible.

In a playful remark, Hideo Kojima mentioned that the absence of gravity in space would not aggravate his already troublesome back. Moreover, he confessed that he’s developing what could be termed “Tom Cruise syndrome,” as he feels compelled to take dangerous risks to discover his true value.

In recent interviews, the creator of Metal Gear Solid has expressed his intentions for the later part of his life, given the lengthy production times of video games. This game mastermind is striving to produce a variety of games during the remaining years of his career. For instance, although he has designs for Death Stranding 3, he has made it clear that someone else will be responsible for its creation.

Following the completion of Death Stranding 2, Kojima Productions plans to take a brief hiatus. However, mastermind Hideo Kojima is set to dive straight into his next project immediately. Regrettably, there’s currently no scheduled release date for the upcoming game as of this writing.
