Hideo Kojima explains Metal Gear successor Physint only exists because everyone wants him to make a new MGS game

Although Hideo Kojima isn’t officially announcing another Metal Gear Solid game, it seems he might be working on something similar, as the video game visionary is deep in the planning stages for Death Stranding 2, along with two other projects: his horror game OD and espionage title Phsyint.

During an interview with EDGE Magazine, Kojima shared that the concept for the game originated from a time when he was ill due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This highly anticipated PlayStation exclusive was born as he recuperated, inspired by the intense enthusiasm among fans for his return to the Metal Gear series.

Psyint is made for Metal Gear fans

In an interview with GamesRadar, Kojima shared that his mind is brimming with numerous fresh concepts he wishes to bring to life. One such idea he mentioned was potentially a Death Stranding 3, but he clarified that he himself would not be the one developing this project.

Kojima drew motivation from the constant demand of fans, who eagerly wanted him back in the Metal Gear Solid series, following the controversial split between him and Konami.

During the pandemic when I fell ill, I discovered many people wished for me to create something akin to Metal Gear. This sparked an idea in me for a fresh espionage game. After contemplating, I concluded that the concept was sound.

Kojima shared that he had conversations with Sony about revisiting the spy genre, and they both considered numerous possibilities. Ultimately, they decided to proceed with the project called “Physint”.

The “fresh, unique intellectual property” can be referred to as a “future-oriented action spy game,” which also symbolizes a blend of physical and mental prowess. There isn’t too much information available about this upcoming game, but there are speculations that it might emphasize the supernatural aspects hinted at in the Metal Gear series.

Previously, Kojima shared that following Death Stranding 2, the next game would require around five to six years of production time. This could potentially mean a launch as late as 2030. (Will life span that long for us to play it?)
