As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the news of Tango Gameworks‘ comeback has left me both thrilled and puzzled. Having grown fond of their unique blend of horror and action in games like The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo, it was a blow when they seemingly vanished from the scene just last year.
The recent announcement of Tango Gameworks Inc., reborn under Krafton’s wing, brings a sense of renewed hope to the gaming community. It’s intriguing to see such a talented studio getting a second chance at creating games that bring joy to players worldwide.
However, I can’t help but question the circumstances that led to their closure in the first place. Microsoft’s decision to close down Tango, especially after the success of Hi-Fi Rush, leaves me scratching my head. It’s not every day that a studio’s prestige titles like The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo are left on the shelf without any clear explanation.
With the acquisition of Hi-Fi Rush by Krafton, I eagerly await news of a possible sequel. But as for other IPs like The Evil Within or Ghostwire: Tokyo, it remains to be seen if we’ll ever see their return. As we wait for Tango Gameworks Inc.’s next move, I find myself hoping that they’ll continue creating the captivating experiences that made me fall in love with gaming in the first place.
On a lighter note, I can’t help but wonder if Tango Gameworks Inc. will ever consider venturing into the world of virtual reality. Imagine stepping into the terrifying world of The Evil Within or exploring the supernatural cityscape of Ghostwire: Tokyo in VR – now that would be something truly special!
Following Krafton’s acquisition of Tango Gameworks Studio (formerly known as Hi-Fi Rush), the studio has resumed operations under a fresh name and embarks on an exciting new chapter.
In their latest update on what was formerly known as X (previously Twitter), Tango declared their return, along with a modified name and a promise of a fresh chapter for the studio. This implies that Krafton intends not only to carry on with the development of the Hi-Fi Rush game but also to preserve and build upon the legacy of the studio itself.
In the post, Tango wrote:
Tango Gameworks studio has been reborn as Tango Gameworks Inc, proudly joining Krafton Inc. We’re excited to continue crafting games that bring joy to players around the world. Thank you for your continued support as we embark on this new journey!

Tango is dead – long live Tango!
By August 2024, it had been revealed that Krafton would acquire Tango. This was unexpected to many, given that Microsoft Vice President Aaron Greenberg described the game “Hi-Fi Rush” as a “smash hit for us and our players in all critical indicators and expectations” only a year prior.
Microsoft has not provided a definitive explanation as to why they chose to shut down Tango and the popular games such as “Hi-Fi Rush”, “The Evil Within”, and “Ghostwire: Tokyo”. It is plausible that financial reasons could have played a significant role, however, abruptly closing one of your esteemed studios without disclosing any specifics can negatively impact your reputation.
Because titles such as “The Evil Within” and “Ghostwire: Tokyo” weren’t included in Krafton’s agreement, it remains unclear whether more games from Tango will be released soon. Therefore, it appears that we must await further announcements for updates.
Which project do you think Tango Gameworks Inc should focus on next? Are you looking forward to potentially seeing another installment of Hi-Fi Rush?
