Hetty could return to the NCISverse but not in the way you might think

As a dedicated NCIS fan with over two decades of investment in this universe, I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming prequel series, NCIS: Origins. The recent developments, including the cancellation of NCIS: Hawaii and the production of NCIS: Tony & Ziva, along with the highly-awaited release of NCIS: Origins, have kept me on the edge of my seat.

Lately, there’s been a lot of buzz surrounding the NCIS universe. The cancellation of “NCIS: Hawaii” (which looks permanent), the production of “NCIS: Tony & Ziva,” where Tony and Ziva finally find their Tali, and the eagerly awaited debut of “NCIS: Origins.” In this new series, Mark Harmon re-joins the franchise to provide narration as we delve into Gibbs’ early years as an agent during the ’90s.

NCIS: Origins has a rare chance to provide more details about Gibbs’ past, not just his own history but also the people he cared for and worked with during his younger years. There’s been some apprehension that the prequel might alter history since the primary series already explored Gibbs’ background extensively while Harmon was still part of the cast. Nevertheless, if executed skillfully, this spin-off could add depth to our understanding of the cherished character.

Origins, is anticipated to present new versions of characters from the NCIS franchise’s spin-offs like NCIS: New Orleans and NCIS: Los Angeles.

In his recent exclusive report, Matt Webb Mitovich of TVLine hinted that Dwayne Pride and Hetty Lange could potentially appear in the upcoming NCIS prequel. North stated, “We wouldn’t rule anything out,” implying it’s possible but not guaranteed they will make an appearance.

There’s a good chance Pride will make an appearance or have a significant role in “NCIS: Origins” due to his past with Gibbs as members of the Fed Five, a team that took down the Privileged Killer. Before they joined the NIS, they were acquainted. Introducing Hetty might be more challenging for the writers, but they could potentially introduce her through Callen at some point in the series’ continuation.

Supporters of “NCIS: Los Angeles” have been eagerly anticipating Hetty’s comeback to the NCIS world since the show concluded, as a satisfying on-screen farewell didn’t occur due to Linda Hunt’s unavailability. Although an appearance in “NCIS: Origins” isn’t exactly what fans had in mind, it offers an opportunity to witness Hetty in her youth and gain insights into what she was working on during the ’90s (and possibly the 2000s).
