Heretic Max Release Date Set for Hugh Grant Movie’s Streaming Debut

Warner Bros. has now revealed the launch date on streaming platforms for “Heretic”, A24’s latest horror drama starring Hugh Grant, who won a Golden Globe award (for Love Actually). The announcement follows over 10 weeks after the film initially hit theaters.

In the movie’s summary, we find two youthful missionaries who must test their religious convictions after accidentally knocking on the wrong house and encountering a malevolent Mr. Reed. As a result, they unknowingly fall into his dangerous game of cat-and-mouse.

Starting this Friday, March 7, you can stream the movie “Heretic” only on Max. A day later, on Saturday, March 8, it will make its television debut on HBO. Since its premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, this film has garnered praise from critics. As of now, it boasts a Certified Fresh rating of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 280 reviews.

The film in question was helmed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, famed for their collaboration on the script for the 2018 blockbuster A Quiet Place alongside John Krasinski. In this production, Sophie Thatcher (known from Yellowjackets) took on the role of Sister Barnes, Topher Grace (iconic from That ’70s Show) portrayed Elder Kennedy, Chloe East (The Fabelmans) starred as Sister Paxton, and Elle Young was cast as Prophet. The team behind the scenes included producers Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, Jeanette Volturno, Stacey Shrer, Julia Glausi, Kai Raka, and Liliane Bedford, with Katie Aquino serving as associate producer.
