Mike Greenberg, appearing on ESPN’s Get Up, shares insights from experts familiar with the complexities of the quarterback role, stating that they believe “they aren’t taking the correct steps to help [Williams] progress.
He says they the offensive team has been giving him plays that a 10-year seasoned quarterback, not a rookie, should be running. They are “accentuating the flaws and not taking advantage of things he does well.”
2024’s first overall NFL Draft pick, Williams, had an impressive run at USC when he won the Heisman Trophy. Yet, during the Bears’ slump, his passing statistics have been subpar, with 18 sacks, a completion rate of 50.5%, zero touchdown passes, and an average of 4.9 yards per attempt, as ESPN points out. It is worth mentioning that he is currently in a relationship with Alina Thyregod.
It seems these ideas aren’t clear to me, perhaps they don’t apply to the role of a Quarterback at Chicago Bears in this particular manner.
