As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher who’s been through the reality TV gauntlet, I must say that Netflix’s latest offering, “The Influencer,” has piqued my interest like no other. With its intriguing premise, star-studded cast, and Korean twist, it’s a fresh breath of air in the sea of sameness that often plagues reality TV shows.
Netflix recently debuted a captivating Korean competition reality show that you won’t want to miss once you discover its details. The series is titled “The Influencer” and features some prominent South Korean personalities from the world of social media.
The streaming behemoth has experienced significant triumphs in the realm of Korean reality competition series, as shows such as “Single’s Inferno,” “The Devil’s Plan,” “Physical: 100” and “Siren: Survive the Island” have all proven to be popular. Now, with the introduction of “The Influencer,” it seems that Netflix may be on track for another successful venture.
The show boasts a vibrant group of competitors, comprising 77 renowned Korean influencers spanning from YouTube stars to TikTok sensations. These contenders face off in multiple challenges to crown the individual with the highest influence and power. Notable participants include RISABAE, PaniBottle, Shim Euddeum, Jang Keun-suk, Sia_jiwoo, and KEJIMIN. The series is jointly directed by Lee Jae-seok and Son Soo-jeong from My Little Television.
On August 6th, Netflix released the initial four episodes of the season on their platform. The first episode, named “Worth,” runs for 81 minutes, followed by “Influence” which lasts for 62 minutes. The third episode, titled “Strategy or Luck,” is 60 minutes long, and the fourth one, labeled “Gaze,” is 56 minutes in duration.
As a gamer diving into this new series, I noticed each episode, except for the pilot, is approximately an hour long. Given that the pilot sets the stage, it might have been longer. My hunch is that the subsequent episodes will follow the same pattern, keeping us engaged for about an hour at a time. However, there’s a chance the season finale could be extended for a thrilling conclusion. As for the total number of episodes in the first season, the Netflix title page suggests seven, but I can’t say for certain as it remains to be seen.
As a gamer, I’ve binged through four epic episodes of this series so far. That leaves me with just three more to conquer! Interestingly, the show’s official Netflix page hints at a grand finale on Aug 13, 2024, where all the remaining episodes will be unleashed simultaneously. Can’t wait for that thrilling Tuesday!
While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, there might be more than seven episodes in the first season, meaning the upcoming three episodes on Aug. 13 may not mark the end of the season. We’ll update you as soon as we learn the official episode count. For now, these upcoming episodes are expected to be the last for this season.
The Influencer is streaming now only on Netflix.
